Project Overview

This project was based around closely studying the design style of Experimental Jetset's portfolio and replicating it for a non-existent lecture series including the group.

Focusing on their common color palette of whites, greys, and primary colors, as well as the use of Helvetica, this poster was designed to draw the audience towards the group's name as imagery rather than as a heading. Type was placed in symmetrical blocks just as the group often uses simple shapes to emphasize parts of their designs.

Challenge

Completely mimicking another designer's style is as challenging as trying to understand how their brain works. I initially attempted the design in many different ways and with an array of colors, but ended on the overlap and yellow for the most visual interest and contrast.

Results

The final poster design focused on the various sticker-like tags of the group name scattered around the page and the image it created, with the text as a secondary aspect. Much time was spent on deciding colors and texture, but ended with a vibrant yellow to contrast with the darker grey tones of the overall design.
